Living in Long Eaton
Long Eaton is a town just north of the River Trent, about six miles south west of Nottingham and nine miles south east of Derby.
The railways arrived in 1839 and 1844, and lace making and railway wagon building became the main industries. By 1907 the town had nearly 1,400 lace machines.
West Park is the main park, the Erewash Canal runs through the town and the Duchess Theatre was rebuilt in 2010 after a fire. There is a carnival on the third Saturday in June and a Chestnut Fair in November.
